TimThumb is a small simple script that crops, zooms and resizes images for your WordPress blog or other application. The custom image resize script was created for the Mimbo Pro Theme and is now being used in a couple of other premium WordPress themes such as the Live Wire Series from Premium News Themes. Tim Thumb is now an open source project and available for download here.
Some people seem to have had problems using this with WordPress themes. I couldn’t get it to work with the Masagana Theme and spent 24 hours messing about with it.
I am not a programmer – just an HTML coder, and I tried a heap of stuff suggested on various sites. I changed server permissions and that didn’t help, I fiddled with codes and that didn’t help. The final solution (I think) was downloading the version of timthumb.php from http://timthumb.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/timthumb.php , changing the folder permissions back from 777 to 755 and sticking by the Theme designer’s instructions for the default post Key and URL. I am using WordPress version 2.9.
The blog displays fine in Firefox and Crazy but I’ve got some issues with IE – maybe need an upgrade … so what’s new.

Hey, have you tried to use thumbGen?. Is a plugin that makes exactly the same than timthumb but is so much easier to use and install. Is a plugin made by myself, but please, take a look at it.

It is a great tool to create thumbnails. But the quality of thumbnails is not at its best. But again great tool for non-programmers.
