I think this is a great idea to help market Themefuse. I actually came across the contest via twitter; and figured I would post and give some reasons why I find premium themes great and useful.
I graduated college recently with a degree in graphic design; and have been told by employers I should really start an art blog/ personal site with all of my “fun” work. So I am always on the look for themes- especially something to match my professional site. I am a copyright fanatic- so I will always purchase and read the terms before using anything, and I know what it is like to be a designer and work hard on something. So if I were to win a premium theme- I would either set up my art blog, or use it for a family friend/ local business who is in dire need of a website (which is very common where I am). I know with hosting/ domain- sometimes people just don’t have the extra money to purchase premium themes/ sites, so often they settle for many free themes because food is more important to put on the table- not a website (even if the website can promote their business). Especially new start up companies and college students I find have the most trouble with this situation. A lot of locals don’t know anything about websites- and being in a small town as a designer, I have a lot of people confide in me. Sometimes it isn’t the exchange of money, but services and goods- like a trade.
I never heard of themefuse until now- and have to say I am highly impressed by their themes. I think by offering contests like this, it helps bring in customers- and also allows users to give input, and hopefully thoughtful valid input. I wish other providers took this into consideration; some sites offer monthly freebies- but usually it isn’t anything anybody can really use. Which is why I think this contest is a really good idea. I am constantly purchasing premium themes for my clients and local companies, so it is always good to weigh my options when it comes to what premium theme can fit.
